Last Friday daughter number 3 and several of her friends came up to run in the Indianapolis 500 Mini Marathon. Gloria and I decided that we would go and root them on. We left home at 5:45 AM and got to the race at about 6:30. The race started at 7:30.
There were over 35000 runners. It is the biggest mini marathon in the US; I don't know maybe the world.
Following are some pictures of the race. Hope that you enjoy them.
Before the start, the volunteers were putting out the food for the runners after the race. I asked one of them for a banana and was told that I needed a number.
The wheel chair division started and then everyone else. The guy in the white shirt and orangish-red shoes won the race.
After about 10-15 minutes, Rebecca (below) and two of her friends (above) came
by. We were about 150 yards from the start. I don't know why they are
smiling.
At the end of the crowd was the clean up crew. If you can't stay in front of the pink ladies, GET OFF THE COURSE.
Above is the men's winner, and, below, is the women's winner.
Four happy but tired runners.
After the race, the runners went back to our place, cleaned up, and went to lunch with some friends (except for Rebecca. She stayed behind to visit G and me.)
Later that afternoon, they returned to KY. Gloria and I took a nap. It's tiring watching all those runners. :)
Thanks for coming and taking all those pictures! :) So thankful you were there to cheer us on! :)
