The TRIP Prelog -2

One day to go. Yesterday, I planted beans and some more lima beans for G, mowed most of the yard before it rained, washed clothes for the trip, and began packing.

Today, I need to buy some clothes to top off my my already extensive ward robe.(smiley face) I want to finish mowing the yard and install at least one more irrigation system. G is getting her hair and nails done.

Tonight, we are going out to eat with friends, Matt and Angie, from church.(Mexican), finish packing, and doing some odds and ends.

Tomorrow, the FUN BEGINS!!!

The TRIP - Prelog

It is now 3 days until, Gloria, Larry, Wanda, and I leave for our trip. Gloria and I have been busy getting the house and yard in shape for our absence. It has been very tiring. Yesterday, we worked in the vegetable garden doing the regular weeding. We didn't get finished and were going to finish today, but it is raining; so, it will be put off until it doesn't rain. That may be when we get back; its suppose to rain for the next few days. I wanted to get the yard mowed too, but that will probably need to wait also.

I planned to install drip irrigation systems in all of our beds and received the parts today, and I wanted to install before we left. Hopefully, some of it will be installed. It will be easier to keep the beds watered and be more efficient with the water.

I plan on doing the unthinkable. I will keep a journal during the trip and share my thoughts and experiences here when I return (with some pictures too).

Last Sunday, we had a Sunday School gathering at our house with a cook out and swimming. We had about 25 here, including kids. It was a lot of fun, and I think that everyone had a good time. We got the pool up and running just in time, although the temperature of the water was only 80 ( a little cold for G), but it appeared that the kids loved it.

Radishes

The radish crop came in today. Unfortunately, Mom doesn't like radishes. So, I'm stuck enjoying them myself. The lettuce is ready too, but the spinach bolted very quickly, so we didn't get any. If you were here, you could enjoy a salad too.

Work Day

Last Saturday Gloria and I worked with about 130 other Mooresvillites at a Mooresville Ministerial Association's work day. I had the privilege of heading up the gardening project, while others did electrical, window, and general repair work. The site was at the Country Manor estates trailer park.
We planted flowers at several trailers and around the entrances.
We were served breakfast at 8:00 AM and got started soon after. There were about 20 gardener/helpers. At lunch time were were just about finished with our gardening projects which was about 12:00.
Gloria and I left about 1:00 PM while others stayed on to finish up their projects.
It was very nice seeing Christians of different denominations come together and serve the Lord.
We were both very tired. I took a 4 hour nap, and went to bed early that night.
Today, the Mooresville TIMES had an article about the work day with a picture of some of the gardeners working. The caption indicated that Gloria Paschal (left) was heading the effort to plant flowers at the entrance to the park. Only, it wasn't Gloria; it was someone else in the picture. So, I guess she only gets 7 and a half minutes of fame.
But, it wasn't for her/our glory any way; as, you all know.
